The new AMD Ryzen 8000G APUs with RDNA3 integrated graphics are now available for sale, an interesting solution for DIY desktop mini PCs.
The AMD Ryzen 8000G series comes to compete directly with the recent Intel Core Ultra (Meteor Lake) with integrated Intel Arc Xe GPUs. This generation offers up to eight cores and 16 threads, substantially improving the previous generation AMD Ryzen 5000G in computation. We also have high efficiency with low power consumption thanks to AMD’s Zen 4 architecture manufactured in 4 nm.
In addition, we will see an integrated RDNA 3 GPU from the Radeon 700M series that we have already seen in notebook processors, but that we can now take to the maximum thanks to the TPD of up to 65 W.
AMD Ryzen 8000G Specifications
Within the AMD Ryzen 8000G range at the top we find the AMD Ryzen 7 8700G features eight cores and 16 threads, up to 5.1 GHz with Radeon 780M graphics. Meanwhile, AMD Ryzen 5 8600G offers six cores, 12 threads, up to 5 GHz with Radeon 760M graphics. In the low-end we have the AMD Ryzen 5 8500G with 6C/12H up to 5 GHz and the AMD Ryzen 5 8500G with 4C/8H up to 4.9 GHz featuring the Radeon740M GPU.
The top two APUs include AMD Ryzen AI technology, this is the first NPU in a desktop PC processor. It is capable of uniquely accelerating AI software capabilities to optimize today’s in-demand AI workloads.
All 8000G series desktop processor models offer the fastest integrated graphics thanks to the power of Radeon 700M GPUs with RDNA 3 technology. This hardware is designed to deliver a smooth AAA 1080p gaming experience at an affordable price. The Ryzen 7 8700G processor is undoubtedly a standout, featuring Radeon 780M graphics , the fastest integrated graphics currently available in a desktop processor.
The 8000G series seems a good choice for those who want to enjoy a positive experience with 1080p gaming. We also have the option to upgrade later with a dedicated graphics card for even greater gaming performance.
The entire AMD Ryzen 8000G series as we can see generally outperforms the new Intel Core Ultra with integrated Intel Arc Xe next-gen GPU, as seen in the comparison against the recently announced Intel Core Ultra 7 155H. We will see in real tests if this graph is fulfilled, but from what we have seen in already tested laptops it seems quite real.
