The new AMD Ryzen Embedded R1000 have just been presented with products that complement the previous AMD Ryzen Embedded V1000 that have garnered rave reviews within the integrated hardware. Products that greatly exceed the Intel Gemini Lake as soldered solutions on plates for tablets, 2 in 1, ultrabooks and low consumption plates for digital signage or passive solutions. Processors similar to the new Ryzen APU but in a more compact package.
These new AMD Ryzen Embedded R1000 SoC are presented in two variants that differ for his frequency, the R1606G model reaches up to 3.5GHz and the R1505G up to 3.3GHz, have two Zen CPU cores and four execution threads. In the graphical section we have a Vega 3 GPU that has support h.265 that allows video outputs DisplayPort 1.3 and HDMI 2.0 4K@60fps up to three screens at a time. Undoubtedly a very good solution to control several screen with high quality content ideal for large format digital signage demands or with multiple screens.
The consumption of these new processors would be between 12 and 25 W TPD depending on the configuration, a consumption that allows passive systems as for example in the recently announced Atari VCS console, although it is also a product that we will see in the industrial range of Advantech, ASRock Industrial , IBASE, Netronome or Quixant. It’s a shame not to see this type of product on fanless motherboards like the classic ASRock ones.
