It is now official the new Chromecast with Google TV HD, a trimmed version of the Chromecast with Google TV 4K that reduces its price and features.
At a time when it is already difficult to find a TV that is not 4K in stores, Google decides to release a version with FHD video output, bravo. In addition, owners of the Chromecast with Google TV 4K are still waiting for a promised update that solves the performance and space problems that this Stick has, an excellent advertisement.
This new low-priced Google Stick, $30, basically has the same video features as the top model, although in this case includes decoder for AV1 format and the maximum output resolution is Full HD. As always, we hope to review this new Google Stick soon.
Chromecast with Google TV HD
The Chromecast with Google TV HD includes an Amlogic S805X2 processor manufactured on 12nm. This chip is a Quad Core with ARM Cortex-A35 processors and a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU. A processor sufficient for streaming apps, but very fair for any heavy app we want to run.
The RAM memory is 1.5 GB and for storage we have 8 GB, a really insufficient figure as seen in its big brother.
Other specifications
For wireless connectivity we have wifi aC Dual Band and Bluetooth 5.2. The connectors are almost nonexistent in this stick, by the fact that we only have a USB Type-C port for power and a HDMI 2.0 video connector. On the audio side, in the same way as in the 4K version this version supports Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby Atmos.
The included remote control, the same as the original version, is by bluetooth technology and we have the same direct access buttons to Netflix, Youtube and for the Google voice assistant.
Price and availability
- The new Chromecast with Google TV HD is available on Google Store and Amazon only for $30.
