New multimedia box that we found in AliExpress with the name of G7 Mini and that this time comes with Android TV 11 as the operating system.
If we listen to the advertising, it comes with Android TV 11 and Chromecast integrated, although everything is possible in this type of cheap box. With its Amlogic S905W2 processor, we won’t have any problems using it as a media player, and it’s even compatible with the new AV1 video codec and with support for content up to HDR 10+. An interesting SoC within the cheap range as you can see in our review and that is basically oriented to multimedia playback, running apps and that could even soon be compatible with EmuELEC.
As always, we warn you that it is not recommended to use this BOX to view payment platforms such as Netflix, since it lacks certificates to view them in maximum video quality, for this we have better options.
BOX G7 Mini Specifications
The G7 Mini includes an Amlogic S905W2 processor manufactured in 12nm soldered on its small motherboard. This chip is a Quad Core with low power ARM Cortex-A35 processors and a MALI-G3 MP2 GPU. This processor is enough to move the Android 11 included, streaming apps, KODI, IPTV and some simple 3D load games that, as always, the CPU is cooled by a fanless heatsink, so we don’t have any noise.
In this small box we have versions with 2 GB of DDR4 RAM and 16 GB of eMMc storage memory on the board. It also has a memory card reader in micro SD format that allows us to increase its internal storage capacity.
Other features
In the wireless connectivity section in the G7 Mini we have for this purpose Dual Band Wi-Fi aC with internal antenna and Bluetooth 5.0. As for connectors, on the perimeter of its circular plastic box we find 1 USB 2.0 port, another USB 3.0, 3.5 mm connector for analogue audio and video, SPDIF digital audio output, HDMI 2.0 video output port and an RJ-45 network connector with 10/100 speed.
Among the accessories included, we have a simple infrared remote control, power supply and all the necessary cables to start it up right out of the box.

It’s not a true android tv. I got one. It’s like it’s running android tv launcher over a regular android os. It’s missing several google android tv components like the board and android system web view and more. The voice command hardly works at all. The remote is lack luster and it doesnt have a real Netflix its just an icon linked to the Netflix website through chrome which wants to update which doesnt update.
