Today we came across in AliExpress a new certified Stick called GD1 from the really minimalist Dcolor brand, since it seems that it doesn’t even have a USB port.
A TV-Stick designed 100% for streaming based on the AMlogic S905Y4 Quad Core SoC that will give us the necessary power to move any app and that includes compatibility with Dolby audio, DTS and the AV1 codec. The GD1 operating system is Android TV 11 with which we have integrated 4K Chromecast and this time compatibility to play Netflix 4K and others paid streaming platforms in maximum quality.
A stick that could be much more interesting if it had a simple USB port that would give it greater flexibility, although we assume that a HUB can be connected through the USB Type-C power port.
Stick GD1 Specifications
The GD1 media stick includes an AMlogic S905Y4 processor manufactured in 14 nm. A Quad Core chip with ARM Cortex-A35 processors and an ARM Mali-G31 MP2 GPU clocked at 850 Mhz. This SoC includes decoding of the new AV1 codec, support for video output up to 4K@60fps resolutions and compatibility with HDR 10, HDR10+, HLG and Dolby Vision technologies.
On its small board we have 2 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 16 GB of eMMc storage memory that we can expand thanks to the presence of a micro SD card reader.
Regarding wireless connectivity, we find Dual Band Wi-Fi aC and Bluetooth 5.0. The included connectors are only a USB Type-C for power and an HDMI 2.1 video output.
The operating system of the Dcolor GD1 is Android TV 11 and a small Bluetooth remote control with microphone and various shortcut keys to streaming platforms such as Netflix, Disney + and Amazon Prime Video are included.
