From the Google I/O 2018 we got news about a new hardware for developers for the Android TV system, it is the device called ADT-2, a device that seems to be the same that leaked a few days ago and will not come at the commercial market at least with this hardware. A device that has Google Assistant system and the new Android P with performance improvements and simplification of use.
As we already know the ADT-2 integrates a SoC Amlogic S905X a very extended model but that will not be the hardware of a possible new Google commercial device since it does not have the necessary certificates for many streaming services, this device also integrates 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage, in the future we could see a similar hardware with the new SoC Amlogic S905X2 or S905D2 or a variant of them with certificates.
This device comes standard with Android P, a system that seems to focus on improving the experience of the Android TV environment, a big forgotten Google. The company promises improvements in performance, in the user environment and is distributing more tools for developers with updated Android TV images at the same time as the classic Android OS.
Every day we are seeing how the number of hardware for Android TV is growing in the Chinese market and this is a clear sign of demand by users, we must bear in mind that the Android TV environment has doubled users this last year. A surprising figure considering that there is no new official hardware directly focused on Android TV since two years, it is to be assumed that many of these users come from the new devices such as SmartTV with Android TV as OS. In this Google I/O 2018 we has seen new hardware as the JBL Sound Bar and maybe would be possible for us to see a Nexus TV Stick in the future, especially to compete with Amazon Fire TV Stick.
