MINIX C1, Review: Wireless Video Transmitter and Receiver

MINIX C1 is the Wireless Video Sender and Receiver of the MINIX brand that we present today in its analysis or review. A very original device with great features.

A very convenient 1080p video transmission system if we do not want to pull cables or temporarily connect a secondary screen. This device is completely plug and play, so we do not have to perform any steps to configure it. We have two options, one with USB-C emitter port for compatible devices and another with HDMI emitter port that has compatibility with any system.

Let’s put this system to the test and see how it fares in our review.

  • MINIX C1 with USB-C port can be purchased on Amazon only for $65.9.
  • MINIX H1 with HDMI port can be purchased on Amazon only for $65.9.

The MINIX C1 video transmitter and receiver has two cables that we must connect to pair them, in our unit with USB-C the system is powered by this same port. In the case of HDMI cables we need a 5 V 0.5 A power supply which can be a USB port of our TV.

Performance tests

Load testing

We connect the MINIX NEO Z100-Aero mini PC to the MINIX C1 using its USB-C port, the system detects the adapter as a secondary display and starts transmitting the video signal. We did not notice any signal cut-off and we checked that the transmission quality is adequate, with no strange pixelations. We also found that the transmitter and receiver heat up considerably, but it does not seem to affect its operation.

  • Reset: If we need to reset the system to pair it again, we just have to press the reset button on the USB-C transmitter with the supplied pin.

Conclusions and Purchase Link

Opinion

As we have seen, the MINIX C1 transmitter and receiver is a simple and effective video transmission system for some of our needs. To get it up and running, no configuration is required, you just need to connect the HDMI and USB cables for direct pairing. We recommend considering whether we want a USB-C or HDMI cable depending on our devices.

The image in 1080p quality is displayed correctly, we have not noticed appreciable loss of quality due to the compression applied to the image. It is only remarkable how the cables where the signal emitter is heated, but it does not seem worrying.

The MINIX C1 system is an interesting alternative to connect video and sound signal between devices. If we can not or do not want to use cables is a device to consider.
