NanoPi NEO4 a tiny and inexpensive development board with RK3399 SoC

Small and cheap, this is the new NanoPi NEO4 development board, a PCB that includes the powerful RK3399 SoC that we are seeing with profusion in this type of hardware and that has enough power to run AI systems. An interesting low cost alternative to what we had been seeing up to now on the market but with only 1GB of RAM.

SoC, RAM and storage

The tiny PCB NanoPi NEO4 includes as engine the Hexa Core Rockchip RK3399 SoC, with a cluster with two ARM Cortex-A72 processors capable of reaching 2.0Ghz and another cluster with four ARM Cortex-A53 processors; the GPU is a Mali-T860mp4 with support for decoding H.26 / H.264 and VP9 4K @ 60fps codecs among others. We also have standard 1GB of DDR3 RAM, a connector for eMMc modules, microSD card reader and a PCIe x2 connector from which we can even get a SATA port.

Other specifications

Regarding wireless connectivity this board includes Dual Band WiFi with a connector for antenna and Bluetooth 4.0. In terms of ports we see 1 USB 3.0 port, 1 USB Type-C for data and power, 2 USB 2.0 (one by expander), HDMI 2.0a video output, camera port, Gigabit Ethernet connector, a GPIO connector 40 pins and two more with different outputs.

In this board we can run Android 7.1.2, Android 8.1, Lubuntu 16.04 with acceleration by GPU / VPU and Ubuntu Core 18.04 64-bits among others that you can download from your Wiki.
