From Gigabyte comes information about new Gigabyte BRIX GB-BMCE mini PCs with new generation Intel Jasper Lake-J processors manufactured in 10 nm, chips with improved efficiency.
In these processors, we have the classic Intel HD Graphics solution, which limits us to FullHD quality in services such as Netflix that still requires an Intel Core processor. These processors do not jump to the new Intel Xe GPUs, so we are limited in 3D power, and we do not have AV1 codec support either.
Processor, RAM and storage
We have three differentiated versions of these Gigabyte BRIX:
- GB-BMCE-4500C – Intel Celeron J4500 Dual Core 2.0- 2.8 GHz / Intel HD Graphics @ 750 MHz / 6W TPD
- GB-BMCE-5105 – Intel Celeron J5105 Quad Core 2.0-2.9 GHz / Intel HD Graphics @ 800 MHz / 10W TPD
- GB-BMPD-6005 – Intel Pentium Silver J6005 Quad Core 2.0-3.3 GHz / Intel HD Graphics @ 900 MHz / 10W TPD
The maximum RAM memory is 16 GB DDR4-2933 MHz in a single SODIMM and for storage we can have an M.2 2280 SATA SSD, with the option to mount a 2.5-inch SATA SSD in the inner bay.
Regarding wireless connectivity this small PC includes WiFi Dual Band AC 3168 and Bluetooth 4.2 with internal antennas. In terms of connectors we have four USB 3.1 ports, one of them USB-C, 2 3.5 mm audio jack, Gigabit Ethernet network port, HDMI 2.0a video output and a mini DP 1.2 connector, both with support for video output up to 4K@60fps resolutions.
This small computer measures 135 x 115 x 36 mm and includes VESA support. If we opt for a version with storage and memory already installed we will have Windows 10 pre-installed as operating system.
Price and availability
- We will still have to wait awhile to see them on sale at Amazon at a price similar to the current BRIX Celeron/Pentium.
