The small Proscreencast SC01 has an attractive and compact design, at the top we have a button used to reset its status and restart it. On the perimeter we have ventilation slots and at the bottom there are small pieces of non-slip rubber. USER ENVIRONMENT AND CONFIGURATION
First boot and setup
We turn on the Proscreencast SC01 and the first screen tells us how to connect to the device to be able to use it. The first thing we have to do is connect to the Wi-Fi network that creates the same name, Proscreencast-XXXX. Once connected to this network we have to select our home Wi-Fi network and put the password, it is preferable to use our 5G network to have higher speed and less latency. When we are already connected to the Proscreencast network and linked to our Wi-Fi it is possible to start sending streaming content.
- Connectivity: Wi-Fi 2.4G/5G
- Modes: Miracast / Screencast
Device configuration
If we enter the web that indicates the image of Proscreencast in the STEP 2 with the QR code or entering the IP address in our browser, we will get to the configuration menu. Here inside we can find the playback modes. Here we have games mode to lower the latency or video mode to prioritize the image quality, we can also change the video quality to adjust it to the maximum quality of 4K@60fps or lower the quality to have more smoothness, it is also possible to activate HDR mode or rotate the image.
- Miracast mode: video / games.
- Quality: 4K@60fps with HDR
STREAMING TESTS
Send video from YouTube or Chrome OS
With the Proscreencast SC01 device, we can send by casting content from the Youtube app, Chrome browser or Chrome OS. We can not send by other apps like Netflix by DRM protection that include blocking these devices.
In any case, in the YouTube app you can see the results in the following video, the quality is good, and we do not notice cuts even in 4K. We have noticed that occasionally changing video we have to restart the device to stay hung and have to reconnect it.
- Casting: Only compatible with YouTube or Chrome / Does not support DRM.
Screen mirroring
The Proscreencast SC01 also allows us to send the image of our mobile using the Screen Mirroring function that we have in our OS. In each brand of Android mobile this name may vary, Smart View, Cast…. in iOS it is called Airplay. To use this system we have to be in the Proscreencast Wi-Fi network and run the mirroring function, select the Proscreencast and start sending the screen.
As we can see in our test video the system works quite well and we have good image quality without freeze even in 4K, here we can use apps like Netflix on some mobiles.
Conclusions and buy links for Proscreencast SC01
Opinion
After analysing the Proscreencast SC01 we can say that we are facing a fairly efficient casting system for general use. As we have found the system behaves well especially in its Screen Cast function if our mobile gets along with it, it is possible to share the entire screen smoothly even in apps with DRM. On the other hand the function of sending content only from an app is limited to YouTube or Chrome, apps with DRM content can not use this function.
The Proscreencast SC01 allows us to use it anywhere thanks to its easy setup system. Just connect to your Wi-Fi network and start sharing content. With the inclusion of 5G Wi-Fi connectivity it is possible to play content up to 4K@60fps without freezes, other similar low-priced devices usually do not reach this resolution or are limited to 1080p. The design is also quite attractive and compact to take it anywhere.
As we have seen, the Proscreencast SC01 is a simple and efficient streaming system to send the screen of our mobile. It has some limitations in terms of DRM, but if what we want is to send the screen of our mobile is recommended.
