CONCLUSIONS
Score
Opinion
After analyzing the TV-Box Beelink GT-King we can say that this is a very interesting first model with the new and powerful Amlogic S922X Hexa Core SoC. A processor that now includes as a novelty USB 3.0 connectors, a series of visual improvements in video playback and a very controlled consumption for the power that can be deployed. At the network level, the Wifi MiMo adapter with two internal antennas gives us good figures and the Gigabit Ethernet port speed allows us to use network files without any bandwidth problems.
In the Beelink GT-King model we have also integrated 4GB DDR4 RAM board, a point that allows us to load several apps from the internal memory, now from the remote we can access this option with a double click on the Home button. This TV-Box with Android 9 Pie behaves well as a video player, for example with KODI or for powerful games such as PUBG and all kinds of Android apps. The firmware to be a first version is stable and quite complete although of course it has several facets that require improvement, sure Beelink will correct this as usual.
This TV-Box is stable and powerful, a perfectly valid model for users seeking power and the best price, the inclusion of a flymouse control with microphone by default is something that is appreciated.

H.264 MVC, MKV MVC, 3D ISO, HDMI 3D video formats supported?
Go for a Zidoo model with realtek to playback 3D.
We don’t test 3D, is death.
hi
Hi Kim, this is little bit off-topic but could you please recommend tv-box with 1gb lan, 4gb ram & coax spdif (wanna connect it to DAC and toslink slot is already occupied).. the only one with above criteria is A64 4GB/64GB & I’m afraid its already little bit outdated.
Many thanks & best regards, Pavol
Hi. No idea, maybe a expensive Zidoo Z series?
Hi Kim,
You mentioned in your report that Beelink GT-King is able to support DTS-X and Dolby Atmos and 7.1 channels audio. I wrote to check with Beelink and they reply it only support 5.1. Is there a mistake in your review? Or how can I achieve support of 7 audio channels?
Regards,
Jeff
Hi.
You can play this formats as CORE version, downgrade the sound to only 5.1.
Check our test table.
Have nice day.
Hi Kim, Is it possible to power on the box with the remote control, and is this a known brand for android boxes?
Hi. Only standby mode. This is a very well know brand for android devices, you have a lot of firmwares and custom roms.
Hi Kim, how many terabyte GT King can handle HDD eksternal? 4 TB or 6 TB or 8 TB? Please give us your test include brand name and type. Thanx ^^
Hi. 4TB for sure, the others sizes depends in the HD hardware, power…
Hello,. I want to ask :
1. widevine L1 is hardware? , so GT King never can play 4K streaming forever?
2. It is true that Beelink will have a new product s and launch use S905X3 before december 2019 ?
thanx
Hi
1.- L1 is signed in the hardware, but this don’t mean 4K. Read this:
https://androidpctv.com/netflix-4k-hailstorm-android-tv/
2.- Yes GT mini 2, we will review soon.
https://androidpctv.com/beelink-gt1-mini-2-opinion/
Have a nice day.
Hey Kim, i want to ask :
1. Beelink GT King use android mobile, so its different with Beelink GT mini a that use android TV, it is true ? So GT King cannot stream Netflix and Youtube @ 4K resolution, but GT mini a can play @ 4K. Is there any opportunity to got upgraded android version which can play 4K streaming on GT King soon???
2. Can GT King play SSD eksternal ?
Thanx ^^
1.- No, DRM certificates can’t be installed by firmware flash.
2.- Sure.
Have a nice day.
While my Ethernet is plugged in and connect to internet if I use my VPN IPVanish I loose Ethernet connection. Is there a fix for this?
I’ve ordered beelink gt King ffor gift, and it will be used as media center. But now, as I read different reviews and opinions, I understood that there is problem Whit high-resolution audio files on Android devices. Did you try to pass through via HDMI to your AV reciever hi-res FLAC (24 bit)? And what was the result?
Hi, i don’t test this format.
Can you unroot this Gt-King with SU or anything?
I have some apps that cannot work if the device is rooted.
does a tutorial on how to open the beelink gt king, as I need to drill holes in it, the temperature goes to 75 degrees
The lower part is just fixed with pressure, just use a plastic pick.
75ºC in a normal use? this is a normal temperature for a sensor inside a SoC like this in a hard task.
in normal use is between 45 to 60, in games goes to 75
Normal, if you plan to play a lot can make a mod, the case design is not the best for gaming.
I plan to play pubg a lot, I’ll make holes organized on the side and bottom and put a cooler
This is a good solution.
Hello!! i need to now if it can recognize a pendrive with 128 gb storage capacity, please. Thank you, a good day to everyone!!
Hi Kim, which one would you suggest Gt mini-a 4g/64g or Gt king just for watching movie , not Game? Or another TV box ?
Thanks
Hello.
For watching movies and streaming GTmini-a are more than enough at hardware level, also you can play games like PUBG in low settings.
Best regards.
Hello , i want to ask about Beelink GT King :
1. If you check on beelink.com, the specs said it have HDMI port ver 2.0, but in this review you said ver 2.1, which one is true ????
2. On streaming service table, Netflix streaming only support SD + resolution ? It is true no support 4K resolution? If i check your review on Beelink GT mini-a, it support 4K for Netflix streaming. Please explain this.
Thanx for your review and i”ll wait for the answers. ^^
it says HDMI 2.1 on the box
you can see it in his video https://youtu.be/YjT0xrBrQtE?t=44
Hello.
1.- Is HDMI 2.1, the SoC have this spec at hardware level.
2.- King and mini-a are different products, the tablets are correct in each model.
Best regards.
hi,very helpful review since im a beelink user since years now! but do you know why smart tv box have stop making octa core on their boxes? since android 8.1 could found an octa core tv box. is it because they dont need the octa core anymore?thanks and great work
Hello. More cores don’t mean more power, just different solution. This S922X is much better than S912 Octa core.
Pd. Soon will have a red eyes surprise… stay tuned for our news.
Hi again! Do you have nvidia shield? I want to know about its video performance. Does it support VP9 P2? HDR10? Can it play mkv anime 10bit Hi10p? Thank you.
Hi. Yes, you have all the information in the review.
Thank you for the review, a few questions:
– Does it play the video format H.264 10bit High 10@L5.1 ok?
– You wrote “In the front we have an IR receiver that is not appreciated”… “not appreciated” I do not understand what you mean.
– In the summary you wrote “Firmware with improvement margin” can you tell us more about that?
Thank you
Hi.
– Yes check full video test in the review.
– Not visible but works
– Better launcher, more options like auto-framerate… things like this. Not critical.
Have a nice day.
I don’t like the throttling part. Even if it’s not much I still don’t like it for this price. I’m waiting for a box with better cooling but also considering waiting to upgrade my S912 box with the new Rockchip SOCs that will come next year.
Hopefully Beelink will fix their cooling with a new box but for now the Odroid N2 is a much better device as far as cooling goes.
This is a strees test with 100% use of the SoC, in a normal use you don’t see any drop.
Odroid is a dev board not a tv-box… no plastic box, no DRM L1, no remote, no android pre-configured, no EMMC storage (SDcards a slooow), no WIFI or BT… and korean import taxes + shipping + extras. Is a different option.
A case is $4 : https://www.hardkernel.com/shop/odroid-n2-case-black/ I don’t need and DRM because I don’t use such content but I can understand if someone really needs it. Android is available preinstalled on the eMMC: https://www.hardkernel.com/shop/32gb-emmc-module-n2-android/ Remotes are often not that good , I have one mini keyboard so I don’t need a remote. Not interested in Wifi or Bluetooth and I will connect it on LAN and I have a dongle for the mini keyboard. Yes, it’s a different option and it costs more which is why I’m a bit hesitant to buy it. I do understand that in normal usage… Read more »
$26.90 for a eMMC… nice! 😀
Ok, at the end you will pay more (plus taxes) for less user features just for a “psychological thing”… is a perfect valid criteria, but is not general.
I know all the manufacturers… maybe Minix can make a ultra cooler system with nice support, but will be more expensive, we will see something soon.
Have a nice day.
Yes, I agree it’s not for everyone and it’s a more specific thing but for some people it just might be better. You also do get some a dev board that’s usable as a TV box and such but yeah, I get it that it’s not for everyone. Still, I don’t think a better cooling system would have added that much to the price, I’d gladly pay $5 more for it so let’s see. I just like some good passive cooling. Looking forward to see some of your other reviews for S922X TV boxes and btw maybe you can reach… Read more »
We will review the Minix S922X for sure, i don’t think we will see a ODROID board in a review, they don’t have interest in this kind of articles and the niche is very limited.
Have a nice day.
Please do CPU throttling test again and post normal screenshot after it ends because you have cuts on the top and the bottom of screen on your current CPU throttling screenshot. Thank you.
Updated.
