If a few weeks ago we had some information about the powerful Rockchip RK3588 SoC, today we know some new data about the next Rockchip RK3566 and RK3568 SoC for the medium/low range.
These SoCs maybe we will see on some Android TV-Boxes, but it remains to be seen, in the current scene Rockchip is only interested in the low-cost tier with very cheap products and very limited features. Its rival Amlogic has it very easy to compete and is the one that takes all the big fish as Xiaomi or many Smart TV with Android TV.
The new Rockchip RK3566 and RK3568 as we see mount a Quad Core Cortex-A55 configuration and for the graphics section have a fairly powerful GPU as is the Mali-G52 MP2, a configuration similar to that of Amlogic S922X although it remains to be seen how many nanomicrons is the manufacturing process, a key point. It has support for H.265 and VP9 decoding up to 4K@60fps, as you can see it does not have support for the AV1 codec.
Where we find more differences is in the connectivity section where the RK3568 offers us USB 3.0 while the RK3566 only have USB 2.0. Both of them offer us that if we have a Gigabit Ethernet connection, the RAM in both processors can support DDR4. It is possible that we only see in the market TV-Box the RK3566, the model RK3568 offers more options for screen and port connectivity that surely increases the price and is not attractive for this sector.
Is this statement really true? Where we find more differences is in the connectivity section where the RK3568 offers us USB 3.0 while the RK3566 only have USB 2.0. These two devices are on RK3566 and they both have USB 3.0.
