Asus has just tersely announced the first details of its new ROG Ally X, a minor update to its ROG Ally consolidated gaming PC.
A new ASUS console that polishes the original version, since at the hardware level it still keeps the same screen, AMD processor and others. The most important changes are the higher capacity battery that will undoubtedly result in a greater weight of the console. In addition, we have updated the micro SD card reader that changes location to solve the serious problems that even caused breakage. It has been said that it may integrate more RAM and mount a 2280 NVMe SSD disk. It seems that there would also be minor changes in the design and controls to improve the experience on the ROG Ally X.
The improvements also comes to your system, as we will have the new Armory Crate SE 1.5 software that will bring a new user interface. As you can see, these are small improvements, but they affect key points of this ASUS laptop, although not its performance.
ASUS ROG Ally X Specifications
The new ASUS ROG Ally X features an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme SoC with 4nm FinFet fabrication. A chip with eight cores and 16 threads that reaches up to 5.2 GHz and a TPD of only 15-30 W. As a graphics solution we have a Radeon RDNA3 GPU that integrates 12 CU with a number of 768 Stream Processors up to 2800 MHz. Sufficient hardware to run very demanding games at 1080p with the right settings.
In this new version of the console it seems that we would have more than the current 16 LPDDR5 6400 Mhz RAM integrated on the board. For storage we will now have a 512 GB NVMe PCIe 4.0 2280 NVMe SSD that we can replace with another one if we want, although an option with 32 GB of RAM or 1 TB of storage would not be surprising. We also have a slot for UHS-II micro SD memory cards that, as we have mentioned, changes position to avoid problems.
Other notable features
The display is a 7-inch IPS touchscreen with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels, 5 ms response time, 500 nits power and a 120 Hz refresh rate, something that will consume quite a bit of battery life. The display also includes Gorilla Glass DXC protection for added peace of mind.
In the wireless connectivity section we have WIFI 6E and Bluetooth 5.0. As connectors we find a 2.5 mm audio jack, a USB-C 3.2 Gen2 and a ROB XG Mobile interface where we can even connect an external graphics card. Finally, note the presence of vibration motor, two speakers compatible with Dolby Atmos, fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button and a larger battery capacity for this new version.
Price and availability
- The new ROG Ally X will be officially announced on June 2, where its price will also be unveiled, undoubtedly higher than the current one.
