Utocin S12, Android TV Box with Amlogic S905Y4 and WideVine L1

The Amlogic S905Y4 SoC has already been making the leap to cheap Chinese TV-Boxes for months, and today we find another of these devices under the name of Utocin S12.

This Android Box already comes with Android TV 11 as the operating system and with native decoding of the latest generation AV1 codec. We also found that according to advertising, it theoretically has the WideVine L1 certificate with which we can view Disney + and other streaming services in 1080p or higher video quality.

For the rest, the Utocin S12 is the typical Chinese Android Box from which we cannot expect firmware updates and which has specifications in line with its price, although with an AMlogic SoC that can give us a lot of play.

I want pay more, even +20 $, but Dolby Vision is priority.
Sadly, this one is useles, without DV and DA support.
Maybe china understand this some time.

Kim

Low cost china brands can’t access to DA and DV, only the big ones like Xiaomi…

Taip

Dolby is licenze thing, they should pay for every device.
If this noname or mecool can have ATV, so they can make DV and DA device.
Just won’t do this. If HDR10 was not free, they even give this 😀

Kim

They need contracts with Dolby, can’t reach this level.
Mecools are remarked boxes from certified assemblers such as skyworth.
HDR10 is no problem.
Just go to the big fish to have DV and DA.

Taip

Maybe xiaomi mi box 4s max pro, global version will has Dolby Vision.
But strange, because china region is with out this.
