VONTAR X1 a basic Smart Box with the Allwinner H616 SoC

Today we find a new Smart Box on Aliexpress.com called VONTAR X1 that includes in this case the Allwinner Quad Core SoC called H616.

A Chip rarely seen in this world and it does not surprise us, since at least in the review we made of a TV-box with this SoC we had disastrous results. A box that in the field of hardware only stands out for including good wireless connectivity and Android 10.0 as the operating system and for what we see in its specifications includes a selector to enable or disable root. A basic box that can be used as a mediaplayer with Kodi, but we better forget to use paid streaming services in HD or 4K quality, since this box is not prepared for it.

VONTAR X1

SoC, RAM and storage

The VONTAR X1 TV-Box includes the new Allwinner H616 SoC that integrates ARM Cortex-A53 processors and an ARM Mali-G31 MP2 GPU. Of this Smart TV-Box we have available versions with 2/4 GB of DDR3 RAM and 16/32/64 GB of eMMc storage memory that we can expand thanks to the micro SD card reader included in this Box.

Other specs

In the field of wireless connectivity we have Dual Band Wi-Fi aC with internal antenna and Bluetooth 5.0. As connectors, we find in its square plastic box 2 USB 2.0 ports, a 10/100 network connector, analogue audio and video output jack and an HDMI 2.0 video port. With the accessories we also find as usual an IR remote control to be able to start using this TV-Box from the first moment although we have the option of acquiring it with other types of more complete controls.

After one day, one box hang on the boot.
I think, i’m not sure, but i recorded a tv channel, maybe the memory was full so an overflow.

There is no firmware to download.
Reset button you can push put the DC in not in setting methode.
So i can throw it the garbage.
I know it is a cheap box, but money is money

Ask your shop, maybe have the firmware to restore it.

Gerrit

I ask them, not a reply yet i will wait, and let you know.
The last option is try to flash a similar firmware, this model also have wifi ac and bt 5.0.
https://androidpctv.com/firmware-x96-mate-rom-update/
But maybe wifi+bt and remote don’t work, you can use a mouse.

Kim

New year in china, maybe next week you got an answer.

I don’t think it’s working with x96 but with T95 model is definitelly working becouse it has got the same chip AND I am sure is the same hardware, but the wifi is not working, only ethernet, if you can live with that (I am using allready T95 firmware on vontar X1)
Here you have the instructions:
