We found in stores an interesting NAS called XCY X108, a device in three versions with 4, 6 or 8 HDD disks to mount in its front bays.
A machine that mounts the popular Intel N150 processor , a chip of which you can read our comparison with all the details. Inside its case we can mount 4, 6 or 8 3.5″ HDD storage units from the front bays. An ideal device if you are a digital Diogenes, since we can treasure teras of multimedia such as movies or series. This multimedia center for our living room TV can be used as a player directly but can also be used as a remote server. As operating system we can install a Linux distribution , OpenWRT to use it as a soft router and even Windows.
Thanks to its three variants we have a very flexible solution for those who want something versatile in their home, and with the Intel N150 we will have a minimum consumption throughout the year.
XCY X108 Specifications
This XCY X108 in its three most interesting versions mounts the Intel N150 processor manufactured in 10 nm with four cores and four execution threads, reaching 3.6 GHz. In terms of graphics power, the integrated Intel UHD Graphics GPU with 24EU supports VP9 and h.265 video codecs up to 4K@60fps. This processor allows us to use the device as a server, desktop PC and 4K HDR media player.
For RAM we have a SODIMM DDR4 module expandable up to 32 GB. For storage we have an M.2 NVMe 2280 SSD slot up to 1 TB ideal for the OS and apps. We are allowed to mount up to eight drives 3.5″ SATA 3.0 storage with support up to 144 TB (18×8), plus 2x M.2 NVMe 2280 up to 4 TB, the system can be configured as RAID. We also have dual fan system, one in the rear area and one against the CPU.
Other notable features
It includes for connectivity Wifi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 plus two Ethernet ports 2.5 GB 1x 10 GB for use as a high-speed router. On the back of the box we have a USB 3.0, two USB 2.0, micro SD, USB-C video outputs (DP PD), HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.4 with 4K@60fps HDR support and a power connector for your PC type power supply. We do have Wake On Lan support and Auto Power ON system if we have power failure.
On this NAS we can install operating systems such as Linux, OpenWRT, iKuai, LEDE or even Windows 11 if we want to use it with more conventional desktop apps. A computer that in addition to NAS, can also be used to play multimedia, IPTV, KODI addons, SAMBA server or run emulators up to a certain level of performance.

- The XCY X108 can be purchased on AliExpress and soon on Amazon from $229 / 205 € depending on the number of disks.
- We do not recommend the version with Intel Celeron N2940, it is a very outdated processor.
