The new budget-friendly Realme 16x 5G smartphone has been unveiled, an entry-level device featuring hardware that’s already a few years old. The RAM shortage is taking its toll.
The phone is initially launching in India, but we’ll surely see a Western version soon. It features a fairly conventional design and comes with a 7,000 mAh battery. Powering the device is a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor, which delivers solid performance and replaces and outperforms the Dimensity 6100. It features MIL-STD-810H shock protection and IP65-certified dust resistance.
The operating system is Android 16 with the realme UI 7.0 skin, and according to the brand, it will receive software updates for 5 years.
Realme 16x 5G Specifications
This smartphone features the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor, manufactured using a 6-nm process by TSMC. This chip is an octa-core processor with 2 ARM Cortex-A76 cores clocked at up to 2.4 GHz and 6 ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 2.0 GHz. The GPU is an ARM Mali-G57 MC2 running at 950 MHz, which will handle most games without issue, provided you don’t use the highest graphics settings.
The RAM is4/6 GB LPDDR4x, though it can be expanded virtually, as is standard. For storage, there are options of 128/256 GB UFS 2.2, which can be exp anded via a microSD slot up to 1 TB.
Display and Other Features
The display features a 6.8-inch IPS panel with an HD resolution of 1570 x 720 pixels and a 144 Hz refresh rate. For selfies, there’s an 8 MP front-facing camera that complements the 50 MP rear camera, which is supported by a 2 MP secondary camera and an LED flash. It also features a side-mounted fingerprint reader, 5G/4G connectivity with Dual SIM, FM radio, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, and 4-in-1 GPS for precise location tracking.
In terms of connectivity ports, this Realme features a USB Type-C 2.0 OTG port for data transfer and charging, as well as a 3.5 mm audio jack. The battery has a capacity of 7,000 mAh with fast charging up to 45 W and 10 W reverse charging, and it features a single speaker for audio.
