The new ANBERNIC RG DS Plus has been unveiled as an evolution of the ANBERNIC RG DS that offers design improvements and a stylus built right into the console itself.
This new ANBERNIC retains the classic design of the Nintendo DS, but, as we can see, it incorporates improvements in terms of functionality and controls. It’s a clamshell-style device with two 4.3-inch screens (up from 4 inches) and a resolution of 1024×768, giving it a 4:3 aspect ratio. The lower screen is touch-sensitive and compatible with the included stylus, ensuring maximum compatibility with DS games.
The upper screen features two speakers for stereo audio. As we can see, the upper screen has the same aspect ratio as the lower one, which slightly compromises compatibility with Nintendo 3DS games if it can run them at all though we doubt it, since the hardware is likely quite limited.
In terms of controls, in addition to the D-pad and buttons, there’s an analog stick, which limits us to 3DS games at most. The operating system is Anbernic Linux; details on the SoC and hardware specifications are still unknown, but it won’t be very powerful.
