New mini PC unveiled at CES called ACEMAGIC Retro X5, a machine that surprises with its retro design similar to that of a PlayStation 1.
This ACEMAGIC machine will also be available with a classic NES design, adding to the current wave of hardware nostalgia. Inside, we find the powerful high-end AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX470 processor with 12 cores, a solution we first saw in the MINISFORUM AI X1 Pro 470. The graphics engine is the Radeon 890M GPU with RDNA 3.5 cores, offering high performance. As we can see, the plastic case is only slightly reminiscent of the PS1 in its lines, but logically, there is no top-loading CD drive.
This is a high-powered, full-featured desktop computer that can run any demanding app at a good level and also play fairly demanding games.
ACEMAGIC Retro X5 Specifications
The platform features an integrated AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 470processor manufactured by TSMC in an efficient 4 nm process. This is a 12-core chip with 4 powerful Zen 5 cores on one side and 8 low-power Zen 5C cores on the other, 24 threads, and a speed of up to 5.2 GHz. Naturally, there is a 55 TOPS AI core for artificial intelligence tasks. There is also a Radeon 890M GPU from the new RDNA 3.5 generation, with 16 CUs and reaching up to 2900 MHz, which is sufficient for many current games.
Internally, there are also two SODIMM DDR5 5600 MHz slots that allow for dual-channel configurations of up to 128 GB. For storage, there are M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe x4 SSDs, which allow for up to 4 TB of storage.
Connectivity and other features
In terms of wireless connectivity, we have a Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 adapter. On the front of the case, there is a 3.5 mm audio jack, one USB4, and two USB-A 3.2 connectors. On the back, there is another USB4 port, one USB-A 2.0, and two 2.5 GB high-speed Ethernet network connectors. For video outputs, we can use two HDMI 2.1ports and DisplayPort 1.4with8K@60 HDR support, which gives us the possibility of connecting up to three simultaneous displays, including USB-C.
The default operating system is Windows 11 Pro, but a Linux distribution can be installed if desired. It also has VESA support and measures 140×128×40.8 mm.
