Amazon puts on sale in more than 100 countries where previously it did not sell its Fire TV models. This new model called Fire TV Basic Edition offers us the 2nd generation Stick and the control of the 1st generation without Alexa voice assistant. An interesting product for all those countries where they do not have access to the Alexa version of the Fire TV.
The Fire TV Stick Basic Edition is the same Stick as the 2nd generation Fire TV we saw a few months ago, a model that works perfectly to watch Amazon Prime Video, Netflix and HBO up to 1080p resolutions. A very interesting streaming media player that includes a Quad Core SoC Mediatek MT8127D with ARM Cortex-A7 processors and a MALI-450mp4 GPU. We also have 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, Wifi aC with 2 internal antennas with 2×2 support and Bluetooth 4.1. In terms of connectivity, it only has an HDMI 1.4a and a microUSB OTG port for power, as you can see a device oriented to 100% content streaming. The operating system is Fire OS based on Android that we found in Amazon devices.
Also in this version Fire TV Stick Basic Edition has the remote control of the first Fire TV, so we do not have the Alexa system of voice command recognition, a point that indicates that Amazon has not prepared the infrastructure to run this service globally.
- The Fire TV Stick Basic Edition can be purchased for example on Amazon.com, Amazon.ca, Amazon.fr, Amazon.es or Amazon.it
- Price is arround $40 with free shipping for the Prime.
