AMD introduces its Ryzen 9000 and Ryzen AI 300 APUs with RDNA 3.5

The new AMD processors have been presented at Computex, where the Ryzen 9000 for desktop and the Ryzen AI 300 APUs with RDNA 3.5 stand out.

We already have with us the official announcement of the new Ryzen 9000 processors of high consumption that offers a jump in performance and improvements in productivity apps or Gaming. On the other hand, the low power AMD RYZEN 300 AI Series APUs have been presented, which focus their marketing on AI, but also have a high graphics jump thanks to the new RDNA 3.5 technology.

Processors that we will soon see in the market and that we expect to test in multiple devices. AMD is pushing the competition hard against Intel, Snapdragon and Apple.

For now, the high-performance AMD Ryzen 9000 have been presented. We have the Ryzen 9 9950X with 16 cores and 32 threads up to 5.7 GHz and a TDP of 170W, below that the Ryzen 9 9900X with 12 cores up to 5.6 GHz also with 120W TDP, Ryzen 7 9700X with 8 cores up to 5.5 GHz with 65W TDP and finally the Ryzen 5 9600X with 6 cores and 65W TPD.

As we can see in the comparison of the Ryzen 9 9950X against the Intel i9-14900K, we have a performance improvement of 56% in Blender and 21% in Cinebench R24. In terms of Gaming we have a performance difference between 4% and 23% in games like Horizon Zero Dawn. There is also 20% better AI performance with LLM and a doubling of graphics bandwidth with PCIe 5.0 support.

In reference to connectivity, we can use RAM memories up to 8,000 MHz in the higher versions. It will also depend on the chipsets used in combination with the processors.

These processors will be available in July and prices are expected to be maintained. We will see how Intel reacts to compete against them.

AMD RYZEN 300 AI Series APUs for Notebooks

The new and interesting new APU Ryzen AI 300 from the Strix Point family has also been presented. A chip that we will initially see in notebooks, but that will surely bring out versions for PC consoles soon. The integration of the new iGPU RDNA 3.5 with 16 CU improves performance up to 60% in some scenarios, a very interesting point to squeeze these formats.

As for the new APUs we will have the most powerful Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 with 12 cores, 4x Zen 5 Power and another 8 Zen 5C low power, handling 24 threads and reaching up to 5.1 GHz. On the lower rung we have the Ryzen AI 9 HX 365 with 10 cores and 20 threads up to 5 GHz. Both have an NPU that reaches 50 TOPS. Both feature Radeon 880M GPUs with next-generation RDNA 3.5 technology.

The new APUs will soon hit the market in several ASUS and MSI notebooks announced shortly. We look forward to seeing what the actual performance and power consumption will be like. No doubt they will also jump to mini PCs and consoles.
