New Geekbench leaks give us a glimpse of AMD’s latest APUs, specifically the intriguing AMD Ryzen AI 5 435G, which is compatible with the AM5 socket.
Just a few days ago, we saw the first tests of the AMD Ryzen AI MAX 495 Gorgon Halo APU designed for mini-PC motherboards, and now we have a solution for AM5 sockets. This is an ideal solution for those who want to build a more flexible system by assembling the components of their choice. As we’ll see, this new AMD Ryzen AI 5 435G offers impressive performance in both computing and graphics power.
With this APU, we can use any PC configuration with a standard motherboard, allowing us to install conventional RAM slots and a standard ATX power supply.
AMD Ryzen AI 5 435G, hardware features
This AMD Ryzen AI 5 435G desktop APU is manufactured on a 4nm process and belongs to the Gorgon Point generation. It is a processor for desktop systems with an AM5 socket. It features 6 cores and 12 threads, has a base frequency of 2.0 GHz, which reaches up to 4.5 GHz in turbo mode, and has a maximum TDP of 65 W.
For graphics, it features an integrated Radeon 840M GPU with 4 RDNA 3.5 compute units and an NPU delivering 50 TOPS of performance. This hardware allows you to run moderately demanding games at Full HD resolution by adjusting the graphics settings. The RAM reaches a speed of 5600 MT/s and supports PCIe 4.
Performance and testing
This processor does not fall within the PRO range we’re familiar with for desktop APUs, so it will have fewer advanced security features. It will be available in stores by the end of the year, unlike the professional version.
As we can see in the Geekbench results, this new AMD Ryzen AI 5 435G APU delivers slightly higher scores than the current Ryzen 5 8600G, both in single-core and multi-core tests. The Radeon 840M graphics solution has no data in this test, but performance will be lower, since we’re moving from a 760M RDNA 3 to the 840M RDNA 3.5 but with half the compute units.
Price and availability
- The AMD Ryzen AI 5 435G APU is expected to hit stores this Q2 at a starting price of around $159 on retailers like Amazon.
