Anbernic K101, a new handheld console compatible with GBA cartridges

With the name of Anbernic K101 we have a new retro machine, this time we are surprised by its compatibility with original Game Boy Advance cartridges, something not very common.

This retro console with slot for GBA cartridge also includes support for putting games in a micro SD of this cartridge, the design as we see has the retro colors of Nintendo Game & Watch. A machine of very compact dimensions that offers a compatible button panel only for simple 2D games. The catalog of consoles to emulate is quite simple, we have emulators of GBC, GB, NES, SMS, GG and PCE, as we see we do not have a huge power precisely.

Specifications of the Anbernic K101

The Anbernic K101 retro console includes a 3-inch AUO TFT screen with a resolution of 480 x 320 pixels, a format that doubles the original resolution in 4:3 format. To run the emulated titles it has a Dual Core ARM7 + ARM9 SoC of which we do not know its exact specifications. On the board we have only 32MB + 16MB, for the games we need to use the micro SD included in the cartridge.

In its control design it has a directional pad, four front buttons, two rear micro triggers, Start and Select buttons, plus function key, power and volume control. In terms of connectivity, we have a 3.5 mm audio jack for AV output and a micro USB charging port for its 800 mAh internal battery. The audio section is discreet with a single 1 W speaker, the usual in these small systems.
