The Anbernic RG 55G1 hits stores with its 5.5″ screen and a Snapdragon G1 Gen 2

The new Anbernic RG 55G1 Android retro console is now available for purchase. It stands out primarily for its Qualcomm processor, which promises to seamlessly emulate a wide range of retro systems, including basic PlayStation 2 titles.

Anbernic RG 55G1 RetroSpecifically, it features the fan-cooled Qualcomm Snapdragon G1 Gen 2 Octa-Core SoC—the most basic chip in this new lineup—but one that will undoubtedly deliver great performance thanks to its Kryo cores and Adreno A12 GPU.

For RAM, there are versions with 4 or 8 GB, and storage options include 64 and 128 GB, though the device also features a microSD card reader that supports up to 2 TB.

The display is a 5.5-inch Incell IPS touchscreen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It also features Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, and the battery has a capacity of 6000 mAh with fast charging up to 18 W.

Connectivity options include a 3.5 mm audio jack and a USB-C port for charging and data transfer. Notable control features include four rear triggers and 3D Hall-effect joysticks with RGB lighting.

The operating system is Android 14, which includes various AI features to enhance the retro gaming experience.
