The new Anbernic RG34XX SP, a retro console with a 3.5″ screen and a clamshell design that honours the Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP, is now available for sale.
A console that we can carry perfectly in any pocket, since closed it measures 83 x 82 x 25 mm and weighs only 178 grams. This version seems to have a new and very good 3:2 screen, as well as a much improved locking mechanism compared to the ANBERNIC RG35XX SP, which leaves much to be desired. As to controls, we only have a crosshead, four buttons and four rear triggers, enough for the 2D games it can emulate.
This new Anbernic uses a Linux-based system and its Allwinner H700 processor is powerful enough to run all 16 Bit consoles, PS1 and Arcade machines. It is supposed to be able to emulate even many PSP, N64 and Dreamcast titles, but it is not recommended to use it for them.
Specifications of the Anbernic RG34XX SP
Inside this small retro console we find as engine a low power consumption Quad Core SoC Allwinner H700. A chip with 4 ARM Cortex-A53 processors capable of reaching 1.5 Ghz and an ARM MALI-G31 MP2 GPU with support for video even up to HDR10.
This console includes 2 GB of LPDDR4 RAM. For storage we have two micro SD card readers up to 512 GB for the operating system and store games.
Display and other notable features
Its display of is an IPS OCA with a size of 3.5 inches, 3:2 ratio and resolution of 720×480 pixels. The internal battery is 3300mAh capable of lasting up to 6 of play according to the brand and is recharged by a dedicated USB Type-C port. For wireless connectivity we have dual-band Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2.
In the controls section on the Anbernic RG34XX SP, we find a Joystick, an analogue crosshead, four triggers on the back, start, select, reset and function key. The connectors we found are a USB Type-C OTG, micro HDMI to connect to a TV and 3.5 mm audio jack. This machine also has a vibration motor for compatible titles, gamepad support and a small speaker.
