ASRock as in every generation of Intel processors make a good catalog of fanless motherboards for all tastes, today we echo the new ASRock J5005-ITX model that integrates as a novelty the Intel Pentium Silver J5005 processor with Gemini Lake technology. This processor is the most powerful of this family of products designed for a low consumption desktop system that provides a small jump in performance compared to the previous generation.
In this new passive board ASRock J5005-ITX we find the Intel Pentium Silver processor J5005 Quad Core that works between 1.5 and 2.8 GHz has 4 MB of Cache and has a consumption of 10 W TPD, supports up to 8 GB of DDR4 RAM with speeds of 2400 MHz working in Dual Channel. In the graphical section we have the Intel UHD Graphics 605 GPU that reaches up to 800 MHz and has 18EU some figures slightly higher than the basic model 600 mounted by the other processors in the range. Also note that it supports hardware decoding for the HVEC codec and VP9 at 10bit color. At the level of communications, as novelty in the Gemini Lake we have a Gigabit Wifi adapter integrated into the SoC itself, so we only need to connect an Intel CNVi adapter in the M.2 slot, such as the Intel Wireless-AC 9560 CRF module, that only carries the hardware part necessary for radio frequency.
The model ASRock J5005-ITX has two sockets for DDR4 / 2400 SODIMM memory up to 8 GB, has triple monitor support with HDMI 2.0 4K@60fps connectors with HDCP, DVI and VGA. In the connections level we have four SATA 3 ports, an M.2 slot for the Wifi module, Gigabit Ethernet, PCIe 2.0 1x slot, 7.1 audio jack and optical audio output in a protected area of the board with capacitors to avoid noise with HBR (High Bit Rate Audio) support, we have two USB 2.0 ports and, as a novelty, two other USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports with a transfer speed of up to 5 Gbps. In the graphic BIOS we have ample support for remote ignition, ACPI 5.0 protocol and protection circuits for overloads.
