ASRock J5040-ITX nueva placa base pasiva ahora con una CPU más potente

We already have a new passive ASRock motherboard with the name ASRock J5040-ITX, the successor of the current ASRock J5005-ITX that we saw some time ago in one of our reviews.

This model now includes an Intel Pentium Silver J5040 processor, the most powerful of this Intel family for low power desktop computers, which seems to bring a considerable jump in power as well as several improvements. We would love to see a similar motherboard with an embedded AMD APU that would offer much more graphics power and connections.

Processors, RAM and storage

This new ASRock J5040-ITX passive board welds the Intel Pentium Silver J5040 Quad Core processor that works between 2 and 3.2 GHz, an increase over the previous J5005 model that worked between 1.5 and 2.8 GHz with a consumption that remains at 10 W TPD. In the graphics section we have the Intel UHD Graphics 605 GPU that goes up to 800 MHz and has 18EU with hardware decoding support for the HVEC and VP9 codec at 10 bit color but not for HDR. For RAM, we have support for up to 8 GB of DDR4 RAM with speeds of 2400 MHz working in Dual Channel.

Other specifications

The new ASRock J5040-ITX has triple monitor support with HDMI 2.0 4K@60fps connectors with HDCP, DVI and VGA. As for connections we have four SATA 3 ports, an M.2 slot for the Wi-Fi module, Gigabit Ethernet, PCIe 2.0 1x slot, audio jack 7.1 and optical audio output, we have two USB 2.0 ports and as a novelty another two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports with transfer speeds of up to 5 Gbps. In the graphics BIOS we have extensive support for remote power, ACPI 5.0 protocol and overload protection circuits.
