Thanks to its appearance in some stores we have the first specifications of a new CHUWI Hi8 SE a tablet with 8-inch screen oriented to the cheapest segment given the hardware specifications it presents. It is surprising that although it includes a SoC that has been on the market for a long time, the MT8735 includes Android 8.1 as an operating system, it seems that Mediatek is improving in support and that it has an integrated 4G-LTE modem, even though it is not announced on the website in his details.

SoC, RAM and storage

CHUWI Hi8 SE includes a SoC of Mediatek MT8735 a Quad Core with ARM Cortex-A53 processors capable of reaching 1Ghz and an ARM Mali-T720mp2 GPU. The installed RAM is 2 GB and the storage is 32 GB although we can increase it thanks to the included microSD port. A sufficient configuration for a basic tablet but limps at the GPU level if we want to use leading games.

The screen of the CHUWI Hi8 SE is an 8-inch IPS with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels that includes in its upper part a 2MP webcam with microphone while in the back we have another 5MP. It would also include WiFi aC, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and a 4000 mAh battery. At connectivity level we would have a 3.5mm audio jack and a microUSB port for data and power.

  • The new CHUWI Hi8 SE tablet is currently only listed in the online store for $199.99 (€173.58) including shipping. A price that is sure to go down a lot when there is real stock.
