Another console with EmuELEC that we found in AliExpress, this time it’s called Cube X3, and it calls our attention because of its NES-like design box.
The Cube X3 is the typical Chinese Android Box with some additions, such as a pair of joysticks to play without problems and an internal fan that will keep the system cool, something that is appreciated with EmuELEC. As systems, we have Android 9 pre-installed in the internal memory as in a normal Box and EmuELEC 4.5 in a micro SD. We just have to insert the micro SD with EmuELEC and loaded with games, to boot the Box in emulation mode and access the games, if we don’t insert it, the Box will boot with Android 9. Thanks to its Amlogic S905X3 SoC and its 4 GB of RAM we can move most apps, play 4K UHD content at 60 fps without problems and play games in 2D and some 3D.
A simple and fairly cheap solution for those who don’t want to complicate themselves with installations and downloads of retro games. Although as an option you can always buy an Android Box with the more powerful Amlogic S905X3 SoC, such as the X96 MAX+ and install Emuelec or BATOCERA to achieve the same results.
Cube X3 Specifications
The Super Console Cube X3 retroconsole includes an AMlogic S905X3 SoC manufactured in 12nm. This chip is a Quad Core with ARM Cortex-A55 processors that reach speeds of up to 1.9 GHz and integrates a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU, a processor about which you can read our comparison. The VPU is an Amlogic Video Engine 10 with HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG support among others.
We also have 4 GB of DDR3 RAM inside and 32 GB of internal storage that we can expand thanks to the micro USB card reader or one of the USB ports.
Other specifications
In the field of wireless connectivity, we find Dual Band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0. The connectors included in the plastic box are the usual ones found in many boxes, 4 USB 2.0 ports, another USB 3.0, a Gigabit Ethernet connector, an analogue audio and video output interface, and an HDMI 2.0 video output.
An infrared remote control is also included, sufficient to operate the Android 9 that comes as standard at a basic level.
