The Elephone U is the attempt of this Chinese brand known for its low-priced smartphones to be placed within the highest stretch of the mid-range, although it is sure to have very difficult. The new Smartphone Elephone U stands out for its AMOLED curved screen with FHD+ resolution that even counts at the software level with a Samsung-type side panel and a dual rear camera with portrait mode. The rest of the hardware of the team on paper is quite interesting but as we say the fight is complicated compared to Xiaomi and other brands with proven experience in this price range.
The new Elephone U includes the Mediatek Helium P23 SoC that is manufactured in 16nm and has 8 ARM Cortex-A53 processors in a pair of clusters, the most powerful with 4 ARM Cortex-A53 processors able to reach 2.3 Ghz while the second cluster will also have ARM Cortex-A53 processors that remain at 2.2 Ghz speed, on the other hand the GPU is a MALI-G71MP2 ARM. It also includes 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage memory, 3620 mAh battery with fast charge, WiFi aC, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, GPS, FM Radio and 4G Cat.7 modem with dual SIM. The screen is a 5.99″ with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 which is accompanied by an 8 MP front camera pair of the rear 13 MP + 13 MP, the latter accompanied by a flash and reader of fingerprints. Through the USB Type-C port we can charge and connect our phone to a PC but also includes a microSD card reader and a audio jack.
The operating system is Android 7.1 although it promises an update to Android 8.0.
