New Fire TV Stick 4K Max that appears unannounced in the Amazon store and globally, a small Amazon stick that improves the Fire TV Stick 4K and will hit the market on October 7, 2021.
A new version that regarding hardware jumps to 2 GB of RAM and its SoC is renewed with a Mediatek MT8696 chip that reaches 1.8 GHz, the previous version includes a MediaTek MT8695 with a clock at 1.7 GHz so it seems a minor update despite the fact that Amazon says it is 40% faster. The wifi also jumps to Wifi 6, a very welcome upgrade for those of us who already have such a router.
Its remote also gets a design update with Guide keys and direct access to Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Music streaming services.
SoC, RAM and storage
The Fire TV Stick 4K MAX includes a Hexa Core Mediatek MT8696 SoC, which integrates Cortex-A53 processors capable of reaching 1.8 Ghz and a PowerVR GE8300 MP4 GPU that reaches 750 Mhz and allows quite powerful games but limited to the FireOS operating system catalog.
In terms of memory we have 2 GB of RAM DDR4 and a meager 8 GB of eMMC storage, a typical figure for a device oriented 100% to streaming as others.
It also includes in terms of wireless connectivity WiFi 6 with internal antenna designed and Bluetooth 5.0 + LE thanks to its MediaTek MT7921LS chip. In terms of ports we only have a micro USB connector that requires a special cable if we want to connect other peripherals.
The Fire TV Stick 4K is compatible with streaming apps in 4K quality such as Prime Video, Netflix, HBO Max, YouTube and in others. It supports Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG and HDR10+ modes allowing last generation h.265 and VP9 video files, it also has Dolby Atmos audio support (not DTS). As a system we have Fire OS 7 based on Android 9.
