Today we stumbled on AliExpress with the new TV-Box called G96W that catches our attention because it claims to include Android TV 13 as operating system.
If this is confirmed, and it is not a fake version, it would be the first Box with Android 13 on the Amlogic S905W2 SoC, and it seems that it would include Chromecast. A valid processor to be used as mediaplayer, compatible with the AV1 video codec and has support for HDR 10.
As we read in advertising, this box has support for Dolby Audio and is certified for Netflix 4K, something that is sure to be a lie and that Netflix does not certify this type of Boxes.
G96W Box Specifications
The G96W includes soldered on its small motherboard an Amlogic S905W2 SoC manufactured in 12nm. This chip is a Quad Core with low power consumption ARM Cortex-A35 processors and a MALI-G3 MP2 GPU. This processor is enough to run the included Android 11, streaming apps, KODI, IPTV and some simple 3D load game that as always the CPU is cooled by a fanless heatsink, so we do not have any noise.
In this box we have a single version with 2/4 GB DDR3 RAM and 16/32/64/128 GB eMMc storage memory.
Other notable features
In the wireless connectivity section in the G96W we have for this purpose Dual Band Wi-Fi aC with internal antenna and Bluetooth 5.0. As for connectors, on the perimeter of its rectangular plastic case we find a USB 3.0 port, another USB 2.0, 3.5 mm connector for analogue audio and video, SPDIF digital audio output, HDMI 2.0 video output port and an RJ-45 10/100 network connector.
Included accessories include an infrared remote control, power supply and all the necessary cables to get it up and running right out of the box.
