New mini PC presented under the name of GEEKOM A8. A computer that mounts the powerful AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS processor with a core for AI.
A new mini PC with aluminum case and great design of the GEEKOM brand has just been presented. Now mounting AMD Gen8 processors that integrate an AI core up to 16 TOPS to accelerate that kind of work. These chips include an interesting RADEON 780M GPU of which you can check our review of the previous GEEKOM A7 very similar. This mini PC stands out for incorporating two slots for SDD M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0, two slots for SODIMM DDR5 and an Intel M2 Wifi 6E card of last generation.
Among the ports of this computer also have a USB4 connector that reaches speeds of up to 40 Gbps, has support for connecting an external GPU, video output and PD load up to 100 W.
GEEKOM A8 Mini PC Specifications
The new GEEKOM A8 compact computer has a version in which we can opt for a powerful AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS processormanufactured in 4 nm with a TDP of between 35 and 54 W and cooled by a fan. This chip is an Octa Core with 16 threads that reaches 5.2 Ghz in turbo mode. For graphics we have an integrated AMD 780M with 12 GPU RDNA 3 that reaches 2.8 Ghz maximum speed.
A version is also offered with the AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS with Zen 4 CPU cores manufactured with TSMC 4 nm FinFET technology and with the same 780M GPU that reaches 2.7 Ghz. A chip that has 8 cores and 16 threads that can reach 5.1 GHz in turbo mode and has a base frequency of 3.8 GHz.
Both processors have an IA core that offers a performance of 16 TOPS to accelerate these processes. In addition, we have two highly efficient active fans, which are very quiet.
Inside its aluminum case we will find 32 GB of RAM DDR5 5600 Mhz Dual Channel expandable up to 64 GB. For storage we have an installed M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD of 1/2 TB capacity and another connector for a second SATA3 disk in case we want to store many GB.
Other notable features
In the network connectivity section we find a 2.5G RJ45 network port and a fast Intel Wifi 6E adapter with Bluetooth 5.3 that reaches up to 2.4 Gbps. As interfaces we find on the perimeter of the case 3 USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports, USB-C 3.2 Gen2, a USB-A 2.0, 3.5mm audio jack and two HDMI 2.0 video outputs. In addition, we have a full USB4 with data out, PD 100 W power and DisplayPort 1.4 video.
This computer is powered by a small external transformer, a VESA plate is included to anchor it behind any monitor or TV and the operating system is Windows 11 Pro.
