In preparation for the upcoming CES in Las Vegas, the new GEEKOM QS series has been unveiled as the first Qualcomm mini PC on the market.
This new mini PC seems to mount a Snapdragon X Elite SoC that we have seen in several ARM laptops, without much success in the market due to its high price and limitations when emulating x86 in Windows ARM. A very energy efficient hardware that offers high iA capabilities, it has a 45TOPS NPU that will help with Microsoft Copilot for example.
A computer that reminds us in its box to the GEEKOM A8, but that includes long range microphones to give voice commands.
GEEKOM QS Specifications
For the GEEKOM QS Series family we still do not know all its details, but in the GEEKOM QS Pro model we have the Snapdragon X1E-80-100 SoC is manufactured in 4nm. A chip that usually mounts 12 Qualcomm Oryon cores capable of reaching 3.8 Ghz, an Adreno iGPU and a Qualcomm Hexagon NPU of 45 TOPS to accelerate iA works.
As for RAM, we will find 16/32 GB LPDDR5 integrated on the motherboard, no SODIMM. Also for storage we have the option of mounting a disk up to 2 TB in a slot M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 compatible.
Display and other notable features
As a point of attraction we have Wifi 7 with Bluetooth 5.4, since the SoC offers it by default. As for connectors we have on the front we have a USB-A 3.2 port and another USB-A 2.0, we also have three USB-C 3.2 Gen2 ports and a USB4 connector. As usual, we will have PD power, audio jack, Ethernet 2.5G, SD card reader and HDMI 2.0 + DP 1.4 video outputs for video that can reach up to 4K.
As operating system we will have Windows 11 ARM installed, something to keep in mind because it has compatibility limitations and runs on an x86 emulation layer. It has fingerprint unlocking on the front power button.
Price and where to buy
- The key point of this mini PC GEEKOM QS Series will be the price, knowing Qualcomm sure it is cheap and we can expect about $899 or more. Something that will not be able to compete against AMD or Intel in the same sector, but we’ll see.
