At this year’s Computex, we got a look at the GMKTec EVO-X3 mini PC, a machine that debuts AMD’s new-generation Gorgon Halo APU, promising even more power.
As we can see, Lisa Su (CEO of AMD) stopped by the GMKTec booth to personally sign the brand’s new products. This new AMD Ryzen AI Max PRO 495 APU appears to promise a 10% performance boost thanks to its optimizations and 4nm process. As for the integrated GPU, we have the high-performance Radeon 8065S solution, which is an evolution of the Radeon 8060S; with it, we’ll be able to run games at a good performance level, even the most demanding AAA titles.
This platform offers up to 192 GB of unified LPDDR5X RAM. It is a product designed to run heavy local AI models and will come with a very high price tag.
GMKTec EVO-X3 Specifications
Powering this machine is the AMD Ryzen AI Max 495 APU, manufactured like its predecessor using a 4nm process, a highly efficient technology today that delivers high performance per watt. This is a 16-core, 32-thread chip with Zen 5 technology that achieves slightly higher speeds, as we can see in the test results.
For artificial intelligence tasks, it incorporates an AI core that will deliver around 50 TOPS; combined with the performance provided by the CPU, we’ll reach close to 130 TOPS.
For storage, the standard configuration includes two slots for M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe 4.0×4 SSDs. By default, it will likely come with a 2 TB drive, but we can expand up to 8 TB. Among the known specifications, it also stands out for its Wi-Fi 7 connectivity and the OcuLink port it offers.
Price and availability
