Today we came across a new, affordable Android set-top box in stores called the HAKO 3539Y, which is powered by the latest Rockchip RK3539 processor—one that, on paper, appears to be aimed at competing with the Amlogic S905X5m.
The Rockchip RK3539 is a quad-core processor with ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 1.92 GHz. The GPU is an ARM Mali-G310, likely running at 1 GHz—the same one used in the Amlogic S905X5M. This chip comes with support for AV1 and HDR10 and, at the very least, appears to offer a significant boost in graphics performance compared to other solutions from this brand, such as the RK3528, which uses a much older GPU—the ARM Mali-450. As always, heat dissipation is handled passively, so there will be no noise whatsoever.
This Android box is available in versions with 2/4 GB of DDR3 RAM and 16/32 GB of eMMC storage. The HAKO 3539Y also features Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity.
The ports available on its small, square plastic case include two USB 2.0 ports, one USB-C port, an SPDIF audio port, an HDMI 2.0 video output, and a 10/100 RJ45 Ethernet port.
Finally, the operating system is Android TV 14, and it includes a Bluetooth remote control with a microphone for use with any voice assistant or voice commands. As always, it’s best not to count on updates for this type of low-cost media player.
