Mediatek has just officially presented its new SoC aimed at entry-level smartphones with the name of Helio A22. A new chip with which Mediatek wants to enhance its basic range, which is released exclusively with the Xiaomi Redmi 6A, in this new hardware design has been added capabilities until now that we only saw in high-end products.
Mediatek Helio A22 is a SoC manufactured in 12nm and that includes the technology of energy management CorePilot, this controls the resources and the thermals. As usual, this range includes 4 ARM Cortex-A53 processors with a maximum speed of 2.0Ghz and a GE PowerVR GPU that includes support for screens up to 1600 × 720 pixel resolutions, 20: 9 ratio and video encoding / decoding up to H.264 / H.265 with 1080p resolutions at 30fps.
Includes support for RAM memories LPDDR3-933 and LPDDR4X-1600 maximum of 4GB and 6GB respectively and the storage memory can be eMMC 5.1. Integrates Wifi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, FM radio and a LTE modem Cat.7 for downloads and LTE Cat.13 for uploads.
The photo scenario is covered in the Helio A22 with different advanced AI functions for noise reduction, facial unlocking among others. It can natively support a single 21MP sensor or a dual 13 + 8MP unison.
A new SoC that we will undoubtedly see shortly in many Chinese low-end terminals according to their specifications.
