The technology in the SoC for smartphones advances by leaps and bounds generation after generation and Mediatek renews one of its SoC oriented to the middle range with the name of Helio P22, clear heir of the Helio P20 present in multiple Chinese Smartphones that are around $140. The new Helio P22 is manufactured by TSMC in 12nm FinFET, one of its main novelties and that will undoubtedly reduce its consumption. It will also integrate IA-oriented functions, as well as photography, one of the main objectives of all the SoC manufacturers that make the leap to this range.
Helio P22 is an Octa Core with ARM Cortex-A53 processors capable of reaching 2.0Ghz while the GPU is a GE8320 PowerVR capable of reaching a maximum speed of 650Mhz and with support for screens of up to 1600 x 720 pixels. We also found a driver with support for RAM up to 6GB LPDDR3 / LPDDR4x and storage of type eMMC 5.1. At the wireless connectivity level we have WiFi aC and Bluetooth 5.0; we also find GPS, FM Radio and a 4G-LTE model with support for Dual SIM. At the photo level it includes support for cameras up to 21MP including dual 13 + 8MP configurations that will add various effects such as portrait with distorted background.
- The Helio P22 SoC is already in production and we can see it on Smartphones this summer.
