We found today on AliExpress another cheap TV stick called HK1 RBOX-D8 capable of basic smartizing our TV.
A small stick that we can connect directly to an HDMI port, which comes with Android TV 13 as operating system and has a good wireless connectivity with Wi-Fi 6. By including the SoC RK3528 can serve us without problems as a media player in 4K resolution, to run apps, basic games, emulators, and something else. As always, its small format limits the number of connectors we have, something to take into account depending on the use we intend to give it, although luckily we have a USB 3.0 to which we can always connect a HUB.
Remember that in the TV-Stick HK1 RBOX-D8 we do not have certificates to watch video on paid streaming platforms in high resolution (although the logos appear), there are better options for this. A Stick that is powered directly from the TV through a USB cable, something that can give us issues if our screen does not have a USB output with sufficient power. Although in this case, it is only necessary to connect any mobile power supply.
HK1 RBOX-D8 TV-Stick HK1 Specifications
The small HK1 RBOX D8 includes as engine a Rockchip RK3528 processor. This chip is a Quad Core with ARM Cortex-A53 processors reaching up to 2.0 Ghz and an ARM MALI-450 MP2 GPU of which we do not know its clock speed.
For RAM we have available in store two versions with 2 or 4 GB DDR3 and for storage we find 16 GB. This time we have a micro SD card reader to expand the storage memory with up to 256 GB extra at least.
Other notable features
In the field of wireless connectivity, we have this time a good endowment, with Wi-Fi 6 with internal antenna and Bluetooth 5.0. As connectors, we find in its small plastic body a single USB-A 3.0 interface and an HDMI 2.0b video output port that allows us to output video in resolutions up to 4K@60fps. There is another USB Type-C port, but it is for the power supply.
Included with the Box HK1 RBOX-D8 is a Bluetooth remote control with microphone for voice assistant commands and various hotkeys. We also find in the box a USC-C – USB-A cable for direct power supply to our TV and an HDMI cable to start using this Stick just by taking it out of the box and connecting it to our TV.
Price and where to buy
- The HK1 RBOX-D8 TV-Stick can be purchased on AliExpress starting at about $28 with shipping included using coins.
GadgetVersus has the GPU base clock at 300MHz and boost clock at 750MHz, although not all of the values GV has for the RK3528 line up with those described in this article…
Nice! Finally a reasonable competitor to the X96S!
