We have already started to find in the global market several devices that come with the new low-power Intel U300 processor.
This new Intel U300 Penta core processor is an interesting evolution that will provide lower power consumption thanks to its small cores and greater fluidity by being able to balance loads between more cores. As we will see, its power is sufficient for home or multimedia use, it also brings improvements over the current Intel N100 such as RAM support up to 96 GB in Dual Channel.
We are sure that we will soon see it integrated in a multitude of mini PC and light laptops in all Chinese and Western low-cost manufacturers.
Intel U300 Specifications
This Intel U300 is a 13th Generation Raptor Lake chip that is manufactured in 10 nm and that surprises for its configuration with five x86 4 1 cores. We have a high performance core that reaches 4.40 Ghz and 4 efficient cores that stay at 3.3 Ghz. It can manage 6 threads, and its TDP varies from 15 W to 55 W in turbo mode.
The GPU is an Intel UHD with 48 EU and reaches a maximum speed of 1.1 Ghz, it is not a GPU to use 3D games, something logical in this type of processor. Fortunately, at multimedia level this solution supports hardware decoding of AV1 codec, so we will not have playback up to 8K.
The Intel U300 is a chip that improves substantially in RAM management, adapting to the new times and is now capable of handling up to two SO-DIMM slots, managing up to a maximum of 96 GB of RAM. The types of memory supported are DDR4 and DDR5 up to a maximum of 5200 Mhz.
We also have support for Thunderbolt 4 (with DisplayPort 2.1) which brings us transfer speeds of up to 40 Gbps and increased capacity of general-purpose USB ports. In addition, we have support for multiple NVMe, option for 100 W PD charging and ability to connect a Wi-Fi 6E adapter.
