The KICKPI KP3 is a new Chinese media player of decent quality, as it comes certified by Google, supports Dolby Atmos audio, and includes Widevine L1, so you can watch Netflix and other paid streaming platforms in up to HD quality—which should be the bare minimum for any media player.
This set-top box features a classic rectangular design and a small front LED panel. It stands out for its 6-nm Amlogic S905Y5 processor, which is an improvement over its predecessor, the Amlogic S905Y4. This represents an upgrade for the budget-friendly S905Y processor series, as it switches from ARM Cortex-A53 cores to ARM Cortex-A55 cores, making it a much better option than alternatives such as the Allwinner H313 or Rockchip RK3518 SoCs.
It features 2 GB of DDR4 RAM, and for storage, there are versions with 16 or 32 GB of eMMC memory, expandable via a microSD card.
In terms of wireless connectivity, it features Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0. The included ports are two USB 2.0 ports, an SPDIF digital audio output, a 10/100 Ethernet port, a 3.5 mm jack with analog audio and video output, and a high-resolution HDMI 2.1b video output.
The operating system is Google-certified Android TV 14, and a Bluetooth remote control with a microphone is included so you can control the system right out of the box.
