Today comes from China a new TV-Box based on the Amlogic S912 Octa core SoC, it is the M96X PLUS model that will not win any award for originality but has quite decent specifications. Lately we only see new devices of this type based on the low-cost SoC such as the S905W or the RK3328 so it is appreciated to have something new more powerful, the price seems also quite adjusted with respect to the competition, it remains to be seen that support can have in firmwares.
M96X PLUS includes as main engine the Octa Core SoC S912 with ARM Cortex-A53 64-bit processors and a Mali-T820MP3 GPU that incorporates support for UHD video decoding 4K 60fps and HDR among others. This model has 2 GB of DDR3 / DDR4 RAM, 16 GB of eMMc storage memory, dual band wifi with internal antenna and Bluetooth 4.0.
At the level of connectivity this equipment includes an SD card reader, four USB 2.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet connector, an HDMI 2.0b up to 4K60fps, SPDIF digital audio jack and AV video output jack. The operating system installed is Android 7.1.
