If we are looking for a truly portable retro console, the new MagicX Mini Zero 28 V2 can be a good alternative for its price and specifications.
In V2 we have improved the USB-C ports and also the controls are now more precise. This small retro console of economic range draws attention for its mini design and its range of colors, transparent, lilac and black. It is a laptop that comes loaded with emulators for consoles and 8 and 16-bit systems. And where we have as engine an Allwinner A133plus processor, an overclocked variant of the Allwinner A133. The screen is 2.8 inches and includes Wifi connectivity, which is not bad for its price. You can see how this processor performs in our review of a similar machine.
As a system we find LINUX, although we will have alternative firmwares such as the popular TOMATOOS. Overall, a very interesting console for its price and hardware if we are looking for something small.
MagicX Mini Zero 28 V2 Specifications
This small retro console offers as its backbone an Allwinner A133 plus SoC. A Quad Core chip made with 4 ARM Cortex-53 processors capable of reaching a speed of 1.8 GHz with aPowerVR GE8300 GPU that reaches 850Mhz.
The RAM memory is 2 GB DDR4 and for storage we find 8 GB eMMC. We also have a micro SD card slot that comes with a 64 GB SD card where we can store games.
Display and other notable features
The horizontal display of the MagicX Mini Zero 28 V2 is an IPS with a size of 2.8 inches and resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. The internal battery is 2900mAh capable of lasting up to 7 hours of gameplay according to the brand and is recharged by a dedicated USB Type-C port. For wireless connectivity, we have Wifi 4.
As for controls, we have a configuration with an analog stick, two analog sticks, four triggers, start, select, menu and function key. The connectors we find are two USB Type-C OTG and a 3.5 mm audio jack. This console offers support for gamepad and two 1 W speakers. The dimensions are 13 x 6.4 x 1.9 cm and the weight is only 129 g.
