Max to replace HBO Max by adding Discovery content

We already have the first data on Warner Bros new Max platform, a platform that merges Discovery and HBO Max into a single offering.

This content giant has presented its future plans and prices for its imminent launch. It will arrive in the United States in May and then in early 2024 will land in Europe. All this accompanied by a price increase and new payment options with and without ads.

A platform that unifies Discovery+, HBO Max, TNT, CNN, Animal Planet and TLC among others, undoubtedly a tough rival to Netflix.

Max plans and prices in the United States

This service, which will start operating under the domain, will have a price increase as of May 23. In addition, HBO content will be part of an exclusive channel within the platform. As we can see, the Max Ultimate plan is the most similar to the one we have now as HBO Max and is quite a bit more expensive.

  • Max Ad-Lite ($9.99 per month / $99.99 per year): 2x simultaneous streams, 1080p HD resolution, no offline downloads, 5.1 surround sound.
  • Max Ad Free ($15.99 per month / $149.99 per year): 2x simultaneous streams, 1080p HD, up to 30 offline downloads, 5.1 surround sound.
  • Max Ultimate Ad Free ($19.99 per month / $199.99 per year): 4x simultaneous streams, Ultra HD 4K resolution, 100 offline downloads, Dolby Atmos sound.

Platform and user interface

It seems that the new Max will be powered by the Discovery software platform, a system better rated than HBO Max and that in Europe we already know for its documentary and reality TV platform.

  • Max, like Discovery, will only be compatible with certified Android TV.
  • It will not work on Chinese TV-Boxes.
