Mecool K5 presented, with DTT / Satellite tuner and S905X3 SoC

Interesting novelty to start the week in the world of TV-Box with tuners that we have with the new Mecool K5.

The Mecool K5 is a further leap in power within this Box range, since in addition to the double internal tuner for satellite and HD DTT, it includes an Amlogic S905X3 SoC that guarantees fluidity in all operations. We also have PVR recording capacity via USB port and it is to be expected that the usual support for OScam, BISS and SoftCam like the one that the Mecool K7 had with the S905X2 SoC. An interesting evolution with a more powerful SoC, although at the moment we do not see the announced version with 4 GB of RAM for sale.

SoC, RAM and storage

The TV-Box Mecool K5 includes the AMlogic S905X3 SoC, a Quad Core manufactured in 12 nm that reaches up to 1.9 GHz of speed and integrates a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU. This SoC has four ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores and also an NPU for iA. The VPU is an Amlogic Video Engine 10 with support for HDR Dolby Vision, HDR10 +, HDR10, and HLG. This Smart Box is available in versions with 2/4 GB of DDR3 RAM and 16/32 GB of eMMc storage memory that can be expanded from its micro SD card reader that we find on the side of its box.

Other specs

The Mecool K5 has in the field of network connectivity with Wi-Fi aC 2×2 MiMo, Bluetooth 4.2 and an RJ-45 10/100 network connector. The connectors in the box are a USB 2.0 port, another USB 3.0, SPDIF audio output, an HDMI 2.1 video output, an analogue audio and video output jack and the inputs for satellite and DTT antennas.

The operating system is Android 9.0 and a basic IR remote control is included in the basic pack with which we can use this Smart Box from the first moment.
