New Boxes from the China brand Mecool, which receive the names of MECOOL KM1 Classic, Deluxe and Collective depending on the combination of RAM and internal storage, all have Android TV 9.0 Certification. Apparently this TV-Box is a Mecool KM1 with a different box, a fairly common practice from this brand. A Smart Box that thanks to Google Certificate has support for ChromeCast (limited), it also includes a remote control with microphone to use Google Assistant and direct access keys to YouTube, Google Play and Amazon Prime video.
Despite the Google Certification as we have already said many times this Box cannot playback Netflix in 4K quality due to lack of permissions, but this time we are surprised that official support for Prime Video 4K is announced. We hope to have a unit soon to test it in detail and verify all these characteristics.
SoC, RAM and storage
The MECOOL KM1 has as its core the AMlogic S905X3 SoC, a Quad Core manufactured in 12nm that reaches up to 1.9 GHz speed and integrates a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU, you can see the power of this SoC in a Comparative article for S905X3. This chip has four ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores and also an NPU for iA. The VPU is an Amlogic Video Engine 10 with HDR Dolby Vision, HDR10 +, HDR10 and HLG support among others.
The MECOOL KM1 Classic version has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of eMMc storage memory, the MECOOL KM1 Deluxe model has 4GB RAM and 32GB of eMMc storage and the MECOOL KM1 Collective integrates 4GB RAM and 64GB of eMMc storage . All of them can be expanded using the microSD card reader included in the box.
Other specs
At the wireless connectivity level, we find a Wifi aC Dual Band 2T2R board with internal antenna and Bluetooth 4.2. The connectors included in the plastic box are few, just a USB 2.0 port, another USB 3.0, a 10/100 Ethernet connector, an HDMI 2.1 video output and a connector for analog video and audio output.
The installed system is Android TV 9, this is the only system that Google Certifies for any TV-Box, we will never see a device in this format with Android mobile OS because Google would never give it its certificate. Only certified devices can use GoogleCast, it is a system encrypted by Google impossible to replicate without a certificate on Android TV OS.

buy a mecool km1 on 12/7/2020
it is a bad purchase;
netflix does not work due to incompatibility ‘
does not let you install any apkmirror
don’t buy it
We explain this point in this article.
But you can use Netflix in SD+ quality + mouse, read this:
https://androidpctv.com/netflix-device-compatible-version-root-bootloader-fix/
I bought one 1 month ago, but have a lot of problems, sound cuts, freeze and restart, im waiting for some uploads o maybe a firmware to restart the tv box . of couse I already restore the box
The processor is overheating. I was researching the processor and found that the C.L.O.C.K decreases to 400Mhz above 63.40 ° C and above 70 ° c causes the equipment to shut down.
Solution: adapt a Cooler to decrease the temperature
I really hope this can be rooted or somehow is compatible to LibreElec so we can install Emulationstation 🙂
When will your test come?
Is on the way, hope soon.
In my opinion they’re overpriced. I bought a Mecool box once and it was pretty much rubbish. Android TV is nice but not worth is and the boxes don’t even seem to have Gigabit ethernet. For around $35 you can get a box with the same SOC and gigabit.
Yes, but you don’t have google certification, this process is expensive.
Google Cast and Prime 4K is impossible without certification.
If you don’t have interest in this features go for a non certification device, no problem, save money.
Anyway, we see this price going down soon, now is the launch price.
