MediaTek has officially unveiled its new generation of flagship processors, the Dimensity 9600 Pro and Dimensity 9600M. As we’ll see, they offer some interesting features.
The Pro version is built using an advanced 2-nanometer manufacturing process, delivering high performance across all usage scenarios. Both chips feature an updated All Big Core architecture design, significantly increasing clock speed and efficiency per watt to compete with Qualcomm’s solutions and Apple’s M series.
Later this month, we’ll see devices like the OPPO Find X10 Pro Max and vivo X500 Pro Max featuring the Pro version devices that are sure to make a splash.
MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro, for the high-end market
The MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro is positioned as the ultimate processor for high-end mobile devices. It incorporates ARM’s new extreme-performance core architecture with a 2+3+3 CPU configuration 2 C-cores and 3 All Big Cores clocked up to 4.5 GHz. On the graphics side, it features a state-of-the-art G2-Ultra NX GPU, capable of hardware-accelerated ray tracing and superior performance in high-frame-rate mobile games.
In addition, it integrates a powerful, dedicated eighth-generation NPU optimized to run generative AI models locally without relying on the cloud. It supports LPDDR6 10667 / LPDDR5X 10667 memory, UFS 5.0 storage, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 6.2with improved download speeds.
MediaTek Dimensity 9600M, for the mid/high devices
On the other hand, the MediaTek Dimensity 9600M is a more affordable version based on its Pro counterpart. It features eight C-1 cores with a large amount of cache RAM. For graphics, it features an Arm Mali-G1 Ultra MC12 GPU, and for AI, it includes the NPU 990. This version optimizes the chip’s thermal design power (TDP) to sustain prolonged workloads without performance drops due to thermal throttling.
The chip adds an enhanced display engine compatible with multiple external monitors at 4K resolution, support for LPDDR5X 10667 memory, UFS 4.1 storage, and PCIe SSDs, as well as native compatibility with the Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 wireless standards. With this move, MediaTek is positioning itself at the forefront of mobile computing, offering powerful, efficient alternatives that are ready for the new era of AI.
