We already have on the market the new mid-range SoC MediaTek Helio G100 which is nothing more than a small evolution of the popular SoC Mediatek Helio G99 present in multiple smartphones and tablets.
The MediaTek Helio G100 has a base configuration similar to that of the Helio G99 and where the only difference is the implementation of support for cameras up to 200 MP (108 MP in the G99) adapting to the new times. The rest of the improvements are minimal, such as those added to 4G connectivity, screen management and games with the incorporation of MediaTek HyperEngine technology.
As you can see, a minimal facelift for a SoC that will surely replace the G99 soon and that will flood the mid-range of smartphones.
MediaTek Helio G100 Specifications
The MediaTek Helio G100 SoC is an Octa Core manufactured in 6 nm by TSMC. Inside, we have two clusters, the more powerful one with 2 ARM Cortex-A76 processors reaching 2.2 Ghz and the more efficient one with 6 ARM Cortex-A55 processors reaching 2.0 Ghz. The GPU is an Arm Mali-G57 MC2 with support for displays up to 2520 x 1080 pixels at 120 Hz.
For RAM, we have support for LPDDR4X, while storage reaches UFS 2.2 type. We also have Wi-Fi 5 connectivity, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS and 4G modem. On this chip, the camera controller allows the management of a still camera up to 200 MP, while video capture reaches a maximum resolution of 2K at 30fps.
