It has been a while since we have seen specific Mediatek chips for tablets, but the MediaTek Kompanio 1300T comes to break this trend and not aiming at the low end precisely.
This new SoC is manufactured with TSMC’s 6nm process and is very similar to the new Mediatek Dimensity 1100 SoC for smartphones. It maintains its connectivity for 5G mobile networks, native support for the AV1 codec and optimization for games with the presence of MediaTek HyperEngine 3.0 gaming technologies.
Undoubtedly good news for the tablet market that lately is recovering after a long season of decline where Mediatek had ceased to be present.
The MediaTek Kompanio 1300T is an Octa Core where we find two clusters, one with 4 high-performance ARM Cortex-A78 processors and another with high-efficiency ARM Cortex-A55. The GPU is a powerful Mali-G77MC9 supported by and includes an engine for iA MediaTek APU 3.0.
We have support for up to 16 GB of LPDDR4x RAM at 2133 MHz, UFS 3.1 storage memory, Wifi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS and FM radio. The 5G modem is capable of downloading at 4.7 Gbps while the upload speed goes up to 2.5 Gbps. It supports cameras up to 108MP or two in unison up to 32MP + 16MP while the maximum resolution reaches 3840 x 2160 pixels.
Regarding the displays, its support for panels with a refresh rate of 144Hz stands out while the maximum resolution reaches 2560×1600 pixels.
- The new MediaTek Kompanio 1300 chip will be available in tablets and other devices such as Chromebooks by the end of 2021.
