The MINISFORUM brand has just introduced its new MINISFORUM 790S7/129i7, a small volume tower that allows the installation of a low-profile GPU.
This computer with a volume of only 7 liters offers a high performance platform with careful design. We have as options the powerful AMD Ryzen 9 7940HX processors, which you can see in our review, and Intel Core i9-12900HK, solutions that allow us to launch any type of powerful multi-threaded calculation. This case mounts a large radiator already integrated and a 400W power supply.
We also have the option of mounting a low-profile graphics card thanks to its slot up to PCIe 5.0 x 16. A very interesting option if we want to have a high performance in games or graphics apps.
MINISFORUM 790S7/129i7 Specifications
In the MINISFORUM 790S7 we find soldered the AMD Ryzen 9 7940HX processor with Zen 4 technology and manufactured in TSMC 4nm FinFET process. An integrated with 16 cores and 24 threads with 2.4/5.2 GHz speed. In this version we have a PCIe 5.0 x 16 slot, two SODIMM slots for DDR5 5200 memory and two SSD slots M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0.
We also have the MINISFORUM 129i7 which looks less interesting. It features the Intel Core i9-12900HK processor manufactured in 10 nm with 14 cores and 20 threads with speeds of 3.8/5.0 GHz. This configuration gives us one PCIe 4.0 x 8 slot, two DDR4 3200 memory SODIMM slots and two M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 and 3.0 SSD slots plus a SATA connector.
Other notable features
In the area of connectors we have a large number of USB-C and network ports, but it is noteworthy that Intel’s configuration is quite inferior to AMD’s in this regard. The Intel model only includes an HDMI 1.4, but has a VGA connector, perhaps more oriented to industrial workstations.
Undoubtedly the strong point of this computer is the option of mounting a low profile GPU, it is not the format that has more options as we can see in stores, but it can be much better than most integrated GPU. In the box we have mounted a compact 400 W power supply for the 24 pin 8 pin connectors. The supported operating system is Windows 11 Pro, although we can also install Linux.
